Drop Stitch Shell Stitch

The Multiple i s 8 + 3.
This is a variation from the video. The way the stitch is done is the same as in the video. There are two variations illustrated in the symbol instructions and written at the end of the instructions.
Row 1: 3 DC in 3rd CH from hook (1/2 Shell, *CH 2 Skip 7 CHs, (Shell=3 DC, CH 2, 3 DC), repeat from * across, CH 2, 4 DC in last chain for 1/2 Shell.
Row 2: Ch 3, 3 DC in same st, *CH 2, Shell in the center of next shell, continue from * across. CH 2, 4 DC in the last ST of previous round.
Row 3: Ch 3, 3 DC in same st, *CH 1, Slip Stitch two rows below for the drop stitch, CH 1, Shell in the center of next shell. Continue from * to the end. 4 DC in the last ST of previous round. NOTE: You can include the chain in your dropstitch if you would like a rounded edging.
Row 4: Ch 1, SC in same ST, *CH 7 SC in center of next shell. Continue from * across. CH 7, SC in the center of the last 1/2 shell.
Row 5: CH 3, *7 DC in Chain, 1 DC in previous SC, Continue across from * to the end.
Row 6: CH 3, DC in ea DC across.
Row 7: CH 3, 3 DC in same ST. *CH 2, SK 7 DC, Shell in next DC. Continue from * across. CH 2 SK 7 DC and 4 DC in last ST.
Row 6: CH 3, DC in ea DC across.
Row 7: CH 3, 3 DC in same ST. *CH 2, SK 7 DC, Shell in next DC. Continue from * across. CH 2 SK 7 DC and 4 DC in last ST.
Row 8: Ch 3, 3 DC in same st, *CH 2, Shell in the center of next shell, continue from * across. CH 2, 4 DC in the last ST of previous round.
Row 9: Ch 3, 3 DC in same st, *CH 1, Slip Stitch two rows below for the drop stitch, CH 1, Shell in the center of next shell. Continue from * to the end. 4 DC in the last ST of previous round.
Variation 1: Repeat Rows 4-9 for the remainder of the pattern if you are adding the row of double crochet inbetween.
Variation 2: Repeat Rows 7-8 if you are making the shells only.
Edging Recommendations: You can add a row of double crochet around the edge. Remember to add increase stitches in the corner stitch so your piece will not pucker.

What are the measurements for the blanket in the photograph and what yarn did you use. It is so beautiful.

I no longer have the blanket so I have to estimate. It was about 2' by 3'.
I'm trying to find a blanket for a baby that will be born in May. I found cotton blend yarn but it comes in 31/2 oz balls.Can you tell me how many I would need.

What is the size of the afghan that you are wanting to make? What size(ply)is your yarn?
Yarn and Yardage Estimator
Teresa I want to make this blanket.The Drop Stitch-Shell stitch. I have not bought the yarn yet but I'm looking at TLC 3 1/3oz cotton plus.
It is for a summer baby blanket so I thought cotton would be best. If there is something else you think would be better please let me know. I'd like to make it 2' by 3' you made.

I went to the yarn estimator and came up with 1100 yards. It is only an estimate so when you purchase your yarn, you will want to make sure you purchase enough. It is better to have left over yarn.

Hello Teresa my name is Marsha and I enjoy your videos so much, I have learned a lot of new stitches thanks so much, and keep them coming. Teresa would you do a tutorial video on the delta stitch please. The one that I viewed isn't very good, and you teach and explain so well.

What are you calling the delta stitch? Many of the crochet stitches have several different names for the same stitch.

I am new at crochet and was wondering if you evened out the shell design before you did the edging on the blanket. Could you do a video tutorial of adding on the edge to an afghan?

I did not even out the edge. It was flat already I added an edging of double crochet I believe.
I do have some tutorials on edgings.
