There are a couple of ways to make the dress larger or smaller.
1. You can change the hook size to an E or G.
2. You can add a couple more stitches to the under arm of the yoke. You could use 6 or 7 chains or chainless foundations stitch if you wanted to make the chest larger.
The chain can be used instead of the chainless foundation.

SandsCrochet, I just e-mailed you the links.
How nice baby dress... Love its amazing designs...
Jodi,
Thank you.
What is a Solomans Knot? How is it made? What is a chainless hdc? It is a darling dress, Thank you, Lisa.
lfairchild1@woh.rr.com,
The Chainless Foundation Stitches are a way to make the foundation without the chain. There is a video link posted for the Chainless Half Double crochet in the pattern.
The main part of the baby dress is made with Solomon's Knot. Solomon's knot is a crochet stitch. This is a video tutorial showing how to do it.
Solomon's Knot
Teresa...
I want to thank you so much for this pattern! I just started crocheting in November after finding your videos and am totally addicted now! I love it! My husband probably would like to talk to you about my yarn spending, but that's ok... :)
I just used your pattern to make a dress for my daughter who will be born in March. I ended up making the skirt out of triple crochet, to make it a teeny bit warmer, and then I went back and put in long sleeves on the yolk. Basically, I just crocheted even for two rounds, then decreased a stitch on each side of the arm gusset for 9 rounds and then worked even for another round. It is SO cute! I hope to have photos of it on my blog by tomorrow.
I'm planning to make another couple in cotton for friends who are having spring babies, one with short sleeves and one sleeveless, and actually do the Solomon's Knot, per your video instructions.
Thanks for a truly amazing blog, awesome videos, and such a great, adaptable pattern!
Blessings to you and yours!
April,
You are welcome and congratulations on your anticipated arrival. Please let me know when you get the pictures posted.
Pictures are up! My blog is http://saltforthespirit.blogspot.com. I have pictures of a dress that I made following your instructions very closely, as well as the long-sleeved version I mentioned earlier.
Thanks again!
dear Teresa,
I luved the dress..
I hv started crocheting after a break n ur videos are really helping me...i wanted to make a baby dress and got urvideo ,I felt it was a bit complicated but, do u have any other videos of simpler dresses.....
Hi Teresa--
Big Fan. I just started crocheting a month ago and this dress is my second project. I've learned solely from your videos. Thanks for the knowledge :)
I had a question about this dress. I understand that it will fit an 18" chest but I'm a little concerned about the head/neck and how that will fit. Im confused about the back of the dress and if there will be buttons, etc. If you could post a picture of the back of the dress that would help or explain it. Thanks so much!
Hello Teresa,
You are certainly a wonderful teacher. I understand that this dress will fit an 18" chest baby. What do I do to increase size???
Regards,
Hagar

Hagar,
You can use a larger crochet hook or you can modify the basic yoke pattern for more stitches, which will make it larger.
Teresa, I just found your blog and am doing your baby dress for a friends granddaughter's first baby . I am enjoying your pattern and your instructions make it easy to learn . I am 68 years old and always did your basic SC,DC,HDC, Tr,stitches but I am learning new ones from you.Thank you so much . Elsie <><
Elsie,
Thank you for the comment, I appreciate it.
Teresa I made this beautiful dress and posted it on my blog with your blog address . I hope this is OK with you. You really made it easy to learn the Solomon's Knot and your pattern was easy to follow.Thank you so much for sharing . It Will be a gift for my best friends grandaughter's first baby ,only I am going to make her's in thread and White.
Thanks again . Elsie <><
Busy Grandma Elsie,
You did a beautiful job with the dress. You are welcome to post links.
Teresa, I already had a post from a blogger who said she was beginner crocheter so she was glad to get your link.
I have started the white dress and it is not at all like the first in the skirt! Which one is right or which one did I do wrong ?I hope not both is wrong .lol
Elsie <><
Sorry, I didn't add;
I have posted a picture of how much I have done with the white dress beside the pink dress on my blog.
Busy Grandma Elsie,
There are a couple ways that you can do this stitch. It looks like you are doing the second white dress like I did it in the pattern. If the stitches work together then it is correct.
The first dress looks like it was made with 1 knot stitch and then a single crochet to the next stitch.. The second dress looks like you are doing it with two knot stitches and then a single crochet to the next stitch.
Busy Grandma Elsie,
It looks like you may have done two knot stitches on the pink dress and then a single crochet in the previous single crochet where the white dress is staggered. I hope that makes sense. There are many combination's to creating the stitches.
Thank you Teresa, you are right about the white dress.I think it is right by the pattern
but heaven only knows what I did on the pink dress. It is amazing how you can come up with two different pieces from the same pattern, like I did.lol But I love them both. I love your design.

You're video is great!I'm new to crochet and keep losing count on the hdc. How do I count the hdc stitches to make sure I've got the right number in my chainless foundation. Thanks
Anonymous,
Thank you. You count them the same way you count the foundation made with a chain. I would suggest looking closely at the foundation stitch when you are making it, so you will have a good idea how to see it as an individual stitch when it is amongst a lot of other stitches.
Help! I spent all day yesterday crocheting then unraveling the dress after joining the first two rows of knots. I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do next, but I know what I was doing is wrong. Could you give me some details on what happens after the join? The video kind of went over that part too quickly for me. I join with a slipstitch, then do I do 2 or 3 knots and attach them to what? Thanks. Anxiously awaiting.
Anonymous,
What round are you working on? Row 8 is a row with a turn. The pattern is worked in a continual round on round 9 and after, so the knot is not joined at the end of the round. If you had two rounds of knots, why do you think it is wrong?
Thanks for responding so quickly. Disclaimer - this is the 1st thing I've ever crocheted so maybe I misunderstood something. I did row 8, then row 9 and my dress is still open in the back. At that point in the video (13:31) it says to join in the center then work in continual round. That's where I'm lost, after the join, I don't know how to get to the continual round. It looks like you do 2 knots?, and single crocheted back to the center of the previous 2 knots? I just don't know how to get to start the continuos round phase.
I think I have it now. On the written instructions where it says to do 3 knots to start row 9 which is what I did originally, but on the video you only do 1 knot, sc, then 2 knots to continue. I tried that and that seems to be working better.
Teresa I just want to thank you for this dress pattern. I gave mine to a girl who is expecting her first baby and she cried when she looked at it. Her grandmother said " i think she should have her dedicated in that dress". So wanted you to know how beautiful your dress is those receiving it.
We must always put your name on the tag when we give it .

Busy Grandma Elsie,
You should be proud of yourself. Thank you for sharing. That is a great compliment to you.
I didn't see any one ask this previously... do you have a pattern for the flower on the front of the dress? I love the dress and I'm making it for my sister-in-law who is due in July. Thank you for sharing your pattern.
I have another question.
On row 9 - I'm not sure if I'm doing this correctly. By "previous knot", I'm interpreting that to mean the last "loop" made by the previous two knots. So, I'm ending up with an alternating "wave" pattern for the skirt. I cannot tell from the picture if this is how it is supposed to look.
Carla,
Here is the link for the flower.

Carla,
Yes, it is alternating. There are 2 knot stitches together for each loop in the dress.
Thank you Theresa! I figured out that I wasn't making my "knot" correctly -- and then realized your video went on to show that. Thanks for the help. I love the pattern, I've already gotten compliments on it while I was working on it. I'm putting a pink "liner" under the lacey part, and I'm anxious to see what it's going to look like when it's done. I think I might make some ruffly bloomers too. The dress is just too cute, and it has endless possibilities for dressing it up, and it's beautiful as it is. Thanks again.
Carla,
Sounds like it will be pretty when it is done.
