Hazy Day Crochet Square

Abbreviations
DC - Double Crochet
HDC - Half Double Crochet
CH - Chain
SL ST - Slip Stitch
Reverse Single Crochet- This stitch is worked in the opposite direction of the traditional single crochet.
Materials
Size I/5.5 mm crochet hook
4 ply yarn - 2 Colors - Scrap yarn will work
Tapestry Needle
Work a Chain 3, join.
Round 1: Work a chain 1, this will not count as a stitch and is the step up to the next round. Work 10 Double Crochet right through the center of the ring. (10 Double Crochet Total)
HDC - Half Double Crochet
CH - Chain
SL ST - Slip Stitch
Reverse Single Crochet- This stitch is worked in the opposite direction of the traditional single crochet.

Round 3: Attach the new color of yarn. Working in the front loop only, Work a reverse single crochet in each stitch around. Join with the beginning stitch. Cut the yarn, secure. ( 24 reverse single crochet)
Round 4: Attach the new color of yarn in the back loop only. Work a chain 1, this will not count as a stitch, work 1 double crochet in the same loop, work 1 DC in each of the next 3 loops. In the next loop work 3 DC, CH 2, 3 DC all in the same loop, *work 1 DC in each of the next 4 loops. In the next loop work 3 DC, CH 2, 3 DC all in the same loop. Complete 3 times from *. Join with the beginning stitch. Cut and secure the yarn to change color.
Round 5: Attach the yarn with a slip stitch to the center corner of the increase. Work a chain 1, this will not count as a stitch, Work 3 double crochet in the corner. The next stitches will be the double crochet cross or cross over stitch. It will be in the shape of an X. *(Skip the first stitch, work a double crochet in the next stitch. Work a double crochet in the stitch you skipped. Complete 5 times total). In the next CH 2 space, work 3 DC, CH 2, 3 DC, Complete 3 times from *, (Skip the first stitch, work a double crochet in the next stitch. Work a double crochet in the stitch you skipped. Complete 5 times total). Work 3 DC in the beginning chain, CH 2, Join with the beginning chain. Cut the yarn, secure and change color.
