Chain 14

Row 1: 1 SC in each of the next 3 CH's, 1 DC in ea of the next 7 CH's, 1 SC in ea of the next 3 CH's, turn. I did not chain 1 on the turn for this project.

Row 2- 19: 1 SC in loop behind each of the next 3 SC, 1 DC in loop behind ea of the next 7 DC, 1 SC in loop behind ea of the next 3 SC, turn.

This is the same as my ribbing stitches. Typically we go through one or both loops at the top of the stitch as shown in the image to the left. In this case we are going through the loop that is below the two top loops as shown in the image to the right. When you create a new stitch, this loop is formed to the back of the stitch. When your turn, the loop to the back of the stitch will be facing you and is positioned just below the two top loops of the stitch. This is what created the ribbing look.

Sewing: Now you will sew the seam shut. You will have your right sides facing each other. You will sew through the same loops formed to the back of the stitch. Sew through the beginning chain foundation, matching the stitches to each other. When the seam is completely shut, you will weave the yarn through the edge of the opening, pulling it shut as you are weaving. Sew the remaining portion of the hole shut with several stitches across the hole, making it secure. Now you will want to knot it well and weave your tail through the stitches on the inside of the pumpkin. Turn pumpkin inside out. Stuff the pumpkin with polyester fiberfill.
Leaves: *CH 8, SL ST in ea of the next to Ch's. HDC in next CH, DC in ea of the next 3 Ch's, HDC in the next CH. Repeat from * for a total of 5 times for this project. Leaves can be made in one piece. You can make individual leaves, two leaves and change the amount how ever you want to. Sew to the center top of the pumpkin. Secure with knot when finished.

Stem: Ch 5, SL ST in ea of the next 4 Ch's, Sew to the middle of the leaves. Secure with knot when finished.

Baby Afghan - I chained 100 for the baby afghan and used a size K hook and 4 ply yarn.

Multiple: 5

Materials
4 ply yarn
Size K crochet hook - You can use other size hooks for this project

Abbreviations
SK - Skip
Ch - Chain
DC - Double Crochet
EA - Each
SP - Space

Drop Stitch - The drop stitch will be worked below the two previous row of shell stitches. Wrap the yarn over the hook, insert the hook 2 rows below, between the shell stitches, pull the yarn up. Repeat one more time for a total of 5 loops on the hook.

Round 1: Ch 2, 11 HDC in loop, do not join. (12 HDC)

Round 2: 2 HDC in-between each HDC; (24 HDC) mark beginning stitch with marker.

Extended or Long Double Crochet - This is where you will work a double crochet several stitches below the row you are on. You will need to pull up on the stitch and allow for some additional yarn, so the stitch does not sag.

Multiple: 4
You will add 4 chains for each segment of the pattern stitch that you want to add to the width.

Example: If you want to make a baby afghan with a size I/5.5mm crochet hook, 4-ply yarn, you will chain 108. This will give you an estimated width of 34 inches.
