Materials
Size I/5.5 mm crochet hook
4 ply yarn
Tapestry Needle
2 colors of yarn - Scrap yarn will work.
Work a chain of 4, join
Round 1: Work a chain 1, this is the step up and will not count as a stitch, Work 3 double crochet, Chain 2, 3 double crochet, chain 2, 3 double crochet, chain 2, 3 double crochet, work a chain 1, work a single crochet in the first double crochet. We are ending like this to end in the center of the chain space.
Round 2: Work a chain 1, this is the step up and will not count as a stitch, Work 3 DC, * CH 1, in the next CH 2 SP work, 3DC, CH 2, 3 DC, complete 3 times total from *, in the last space work 3 DC, work a chain 1, work a chain 2, join in the first double crochet to join. Cut the yarn, pull through give it a tug.
We will be working in rows now. Attach the new color yarn in a different corner.
Row 3: Work a chain 1, this is the step up and will not count as a stitch, in the same space Work 3 DC, CH 1, in next space 3 DC, CH 1, in the corner work 3 DC, CH 2, 3 DC, in the next space work 3 DC, CH 1, in the next space work 3 DC, turn.
Row 4: Work a chain 4, in the next space work 3 DC, CH 1, in the next space work 3 DC, CH 1, in the corner work 3 DC, CH 2, 3 DC, Ch 1, in the next space work 3 DC, CH 1, in the next space work 3 DC, CH 1, skip 3 DC, work a DC in the last DC.
You can continue working rows to make a larger piece.
